Gunter Festel

          FESTEL CAPITAL

In 2002, Gunter Festel founded the advisory and investment firm FESTEL CAPITAL, which specializes in the commercialisation of technologies in the areas of energy, environment, health, materials and nutrition. Furthermore, he has co-founded, as a Founding Angel (www.founding-angels.com), biotechnology start-ups in Germany and Switzerland (AlgMax, Autodisplay Biotech, Butalco).

Up to the end of 2002, he was a member of the management team and head of the consulting business for the chemical and healthcare industry with Arthur D. Little in Zurich and a consultant with McKinsey.

He started his career with Bayer, where he held various management positions in R&D and marketing.

He holds a PhD in chemistry, MA in economics and BA in business studies from the University Bayreuth, and a PhD in management and economics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich. Furthermore, he has a Master of Advanced Studies in Corporate Finance from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

He is a lecturer and heads a scientific working group focused on start-ups/spin-offs at ETH Zurich.

He is co-founder and member of the advisory board of the Association for Chemistry & Economics (VCW) within the German Chemical Society (GDCh) and founding member and member of the executive council of the China Association for Management of Technology.

He has written numerous books and more than 250 publications on various topics such as biotechnology, buy-outs/M&A, corporate finance, industry restructuring, innovation management, polymer chemistry/physics and start-ups/spin-offs.
